Bessemer City Council votes 5 to 2 to approve rezoning for the 14.5 billion dollar Project Marvel data center campus over resident pushback.
"THE 5 TO 2 VOTE CAME AFTER A NUMBER OF PEOPLE SHARED THEIR CONCERNS ABOUT THIS PROJECT. SO THE PLAN TO BUILD OVER A 14 BILLION MULTI BUILDING DATA CENTER IS BEGINNING TO MOVE FORWARD. ONE WOMAN AGAINST THE PLAN DOESN’T LIVE IN BESSEMER BUT IS WORRIED ABOUT THE IMPACTS THAT WILL STRETCH BEYOND THE CITY. SO THIS IS REALLY GOT ME VERY VERY UPSET. I DO NOT LIKE IT AND I FEEL SORRY THAT FOR THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE IN BESSEMER. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE IN BESSEMER."
