Fund the record, not the story.
Data Center Record is paid for by readers. A contribution keeps the records sourced, verified and free to reuse under CC BY 4.0. It buys nothing else.
Contribute
The funding rule
Data Center Record accepts contributions from individual readers and from foundations that publish their funding. It does not accept money from data center developers, operators, tenants or landlords, from utilities or power producers, from their trade associations, lobbyists, consultants or law firms, or from any campaign for or against a project or a ballot measure.
No contribution, at any size, buys a record, a correction, a placement, a deletion or a delay. Every record carries its sources and its last verified date whether or not anyone paid for anything. A contributor who asks for any of those things gets a refund.
If a contributor is later found to fall under the rule above, the contribution is returned and noted in the transparency block below.
Not a nonprofit
Data Center Record is an independent publication, not a registered nonprofit. Contributions are not tax deductible and are not donations in the charitable sense. They are payments to keep a publication running, and they are reported as income.
