S.B. 57 of the 2025-2026 Regular Session was signed on October 11, 2025. The legislature titles it: Electrical corporations: data centers: report.

    What it requires

The act lets, and does not order, the Public Utilities Commission assess how far the costs an electrical corporation incurs for new data center load shift onto its other customers, including procurement, new transmission and distribution assets, assets stranded when an entity stops operating, and ways to prevent or reduce a substantial shift.

Where the commission completes such an assessment it must send it to the Legislature's policy committees and post it publicly on or before January 1, 2027. The section repeals itself on January 1, 2031. The act places no duty on a data center, a utility or a local government.

A law here is one statute, utility commission order, tariff, tax rule, moratorium or bill at the state level. What it requires is taken from the text, never summarized from coverage; a date the text does not give is left empty. Its status is one of five, defined on the laws index. The dated events beneath a law are the scorecard entries that cite it.
